Finn Pin

In 2012 I worked with product designer, Andreas Eiken on a fun excersise to design and brand a product together. We came up with the yard game FinnPin. We made 6 initial sets and they all sold within hours at the Emily Carr Art Sale.

I designed the logo and website, packaging, instructions and screen printed the pins.

What is it?
FinnPin is a yard game based on Mölkky, a popular game originating from the country of Finland. It is reminiscent of kyykkä, a centuries-old wood throwing game.

How do you play?
The game is rather simple— throw the finn at the pins. If one pin is knocked down, the player gets the number of points on the pin. If multiple pins are knocked down, the player gets one point for each pin. The first player to score exactly 50 points wins.

The pins are setup precicely where they fell, resulting in a more spread out playing field and requiring more accuracy and strategy as the game goes on. 3 strikes in a row and you’re out of the game. Go over 50 and you’re reset to 25 points. *Beer is optional, but recommended.

This project has since been archived.
