@work - Leather Collection  |  2019
Lead Designer, Leather
Once our premiere business collection was updated and launched for 2018, the next stage in its evolution was translating a smaller portion of the top selling SKUs into a higher end leather ensemble. Based on strategic decisions for feature sets and panel construction to make this material transition from 1680D ballistic nylon to leather in a cost effective way.
Top selling SKUs from our original @work collection designed from 1680D ballistic nylon was to be redesigned in leather. I worked with the designer in charge of @work's original fabric collection to maintain the spirit, form and function of his collection (launched in 2018) but in a more high-end material. I collaborated with our factories and suppliers to design functional seams re-crafted for leather. Prior to this project, I had attended the APLF (Leather Show) in Hong Kong, where I sourced different available leather products and how to utilize them to achieve the end goal of our collection - to translate only a small portion of top sellers into leather.
After rounds of spec revisions working with 2 factories in the Shenzhen and larger Guangdong area, I traveled to the chosen factory to finalize the samples and work on pricing issues related to our target FOB.
@work leather small and medium briefs and medium backpack takes the top selling SKUs from the Briggs & Riley ballistic nylon/leather @work redesign of 2018 and gives them a supple luxurious upgrade for discerning consumers looking for the perfect companion piece in their travels that will age with grace and character.
