Touch the Hem, 3rd proof. 9x12in. Intaglio on copper.

Still using the vinegar, hydrogen peroxide, salt solution, but took the operation outside. Peracetic acid (the combination of vinegar and peroxide makes it) is actually much weaker than the acetic acid in vinegar, and the 5% and 3% concentrations in the two liquids are pretty minimal, but why not eliminate any hint of toxicity? My aim is to bring this down to the toxicity of painting watercolors.

Acrylic ground. Etched with vinegar, hydrogen peroxide, kosher salt.

Immaculate Heart of Mary. Artist Proof. 6x8in. Intaglio on copper.  Not as nontoxic as I originally thought.  Combo creates peracetic acid, a weaker version of acetic acid, and over the long haul, in indoor situation, not cool.  Might be OK if you did your etching outside, in a wind.  Pretty weak vapors.  But not good for school situation, which is what I'm researching for.  Has to be VERY nontoxic.  Until then, drypoint and monotypes for the kids.
6th proof. Redrew the face. Need to clean up some foul bite and work on the light.  Getting closer.
4th proof. Etched with vinegar, hydrogen peroxide, and kosher salt.

Pencil study for Transfiguration or Ascension. 2013. 12 x 15 in.

Study I've been working on since Monday, 9.16.13. Plan to make a drypoint of the subject, either a Transfiguration or an Ascension.
Since I'm working on plexiglass and it is transparent, I printed a reverse laser print, so the drypoint comes out the way I drew the original study.
