This project is titled "Building a Barrier". In a pandemic a face mask is a barrier between you and the rest of the world.
I gave it this title because this story takes you on the journey of what goes into making a face mask from placing the pattern to the finish product.
I chose to use black and white photography because it really focuses on the work that is being done, like the cutting, pinning and sewing.
Above is my creation process. I first started by brainstorming the theme borders/barriers. After discussing ideas with my classmates settled on focusing my photographs on the idea of making a face mask.
After that I created my original storyboard and shot planner. Once again, after discussing with classmates I changed both of those. The focus I had was still on making a mask, but it was centered on physically creating a mask, the cutting of fabric the sewing of pieces together.
This is how I came up with "Building a Barrier".
