The seed / La semilla
In this scene I wanted to show a dystopic reality that reflects the social, economic, and environmental negative impacts caused by the abuse of human society behaviors during this year, and through our history as modern society.
The idea of this image representation was how us as human beings changed the way we interact, the idea of seeing each other from the distance, having empathy and curiosity, feeling nostalgic because of not being allowed to have human contact, but at the same time being indifferent in a Machiavellian way for what could happen to the others.
In the economic side, the way many people find new ways to survive, reusing what was considered as trash to reconstruct their habitats, it’s a new growing reality for some, but has been the way underdeveloped cities are being built for many years.
One of the principal purposes is to show the effects of modern society pressure in natural environments as well, arid places with lack of oxygen, that are the vestige of the green that some time ago existed there, almost dead places.
A big reference used for this project was the song "the seed" by Aurora, as I consider it sums up all the concept. An important sentence of this song "You cannot eat money" is a representation of a wakeup call to make us think about our priorities as society, having in mind the actual environmental situation. The phrase “Through dirt and shadow I grow” pretends to represent the symbol of vindication and hope by the little tree inside that weird glass container.

En esta escena quise mostrar una realidad distópica en donde se reflejarán los impactos negativos social, económica y medioambientalmente de nuestros abusos como sociedad humana durante este año, y a través de nuestra historia como sociedad moderna.
Quise representar el cambio en nuestras interacciones como seres humanos, la idea de vernos desde la distancia, teniendo curiosidad y empatía por el otro, con un sentimiento de nostalgia al no poder interactuar físicamente, pero al mismo tiempo con cierta indiferencia maquiavélica de lo que le pueda pasar a los demás.
Económicamente la forma en la que para muchos fue necesario encontrar nuevas alternativas para sobrevivir, reutilizar lo que es considerado basura para reconstruir su hábitat, para crear refugio, es una realidad creciente pero que nunca ha sido ajena a la manera en la que se construyen las ciudades en el tercer mundo desde hace mucho.
Los efectos de nuestro estilo de vida en los entornos naturales quise que también se vieran evidenciados, lugares áridos, faltos de oxígeno, que son el vestigio del verde que alguna vez existió, lugares carentes de vida.
Un gran referente para este proyecto fue la canción “The seed” de la artista “Aurora”, pienso que su letra resume todo el concepto. Una parte de la canción que dice: “No puedes comer dinero” como un llamado a reflexionar en nuestras prioridades como sociedad teniendo en cuenta la situación medioambiental actual. La frase “A través de la mugre y la sombra creceré” que quise representar con el pequeño árbol dentro de ese contenedor de vidrio extraño, símbolo de reivindicación y esperanza.
