Post Pandemic Cafe Design - Tanuki by Crustz

How we going to design our cafe especially during post-pandemic?
Due to the post-pandemic, most of the F&B is affected and even facing the problem of closing. The reason for causing the issue of closing includes the customer needs to follow the rules of social distancing no matter inside the restaurant or outside of the cafe, and it makes the available seat lesser. Besides that, they have to sanitize the restaurant regularly to prevent the bacteria from remaining on its surface. Not only that, they need to ensure that the temperature of the customer is lower than 37.5 degrees and the customer are already register their personal information, and so on. So, here will be my cafe design that is suitable for this kind of situation. I will proposals my design for Tanuki by Crustz in this project.
I will start with my site analysis. So, the location of the site is showing in the picture. This site is located around with residential zone, university zone, and commercial zone. Due to that, my target customer will be family, couple, workers, and also students.
Here will be some of the background information about Tanuki by Crustz. We can start with the information part. The information part is more about what is the owner of the cafe, what they are selling, and also what makes they famous for. Meanwhile, the story part will be more focused on the cafe that I choose which is Tanuki by Crustz.
Next will be my concept for this design. How I got my concept from? I quite interested in the word "tanuki" and I did some research about "tanuki". And I found out some Japanese folklore about "tanuki". Through reading the research of tanuki Japanese folklore, it gives me a feeling of even changes that I wanted to include this feeling in my design. So, I decided to use the word " Shape-Shifter" to be my concept. Because it matches with the feeling that I wanted which is a feeling of even changes and also matches with the ability of tanuki in tanuki Japanese folklore.
Before I'm going to design the cafe, I list down the rules and issues during the Post Pandemic. For instance, the seat should be far away 6ft from each other to reduce the human contact between the customer. On top of that, the cafe needs to be placed the hand sanitizer and temperature scanner for the customer and so on. The left side will be the issue that I found out about and need to be solved in my design. The right side will be the solution that I found out to solve the problem of the left side.
Here is my mood board for this project. In my opinion, shape-shifter means that it is not fixed in any shapes, dimensions, height, color, and material. Due to that, I will be using the curve lines, the different heights of certain items, different colors, and also different materials to represent my concept in my design. For the conversation and joy, I wanted to remain the activities that can be done by my customer while it's still following the safety rules.
Here is the building program for this project. There will be 7 areas in the cafe. The most important is that the vestibule area is used to divide the dining area and waiting area. It can reduce human contact between the customer. The customer will need to sanitize their hand and scan their temperature in the vestibule area before them having their seat.
For the flooring, I decided to make a curve line and using the sticker to represent my concept in my design. So, it will be not just using one material or one color for the flooring. Mostly, the material that I used in the cafe will be having the characteristic of non-porous or antimicrobial to prevent the bacteria remain in the cafe.
For the wall, I will extra apply one layer of Fungicidal Wash Finish to prevent the bacterial remain on its surface.
There is the waiting area of the cafe. The customer needs to scan the QR code that appears on the screen of the LCD screen and register their personal information.
The customer needs to sanitize their hand, scan their temperature, and also scan the QR code to order the dessert and drinks once they entered the cafe.
Here will some surprise that I prepared for the customer especially is the kids!
There are also some small surprises for the customer too.
I will be using 3 layers of different color or material and also the curve line mirror to represent my concept in the washroom design.
