With this project I created a double-gate fold that opens to a four letter word using a Burma Shave type design. Vector typography paired with raster imagery. I chose the word DIED because my project revolves around the day the music died. February 3, 1959. I have the process of this project here. https://drp.mk/1XcRRD05Hx
My first Image is a calendar overlaying an old newspaper with the words The Day, hinting at the fact that the point of this is a particular day in time.
Once you open up to the second and third page, it simply says the music with a background image of open Iowa fields.
This is an image hinting at what the inside fold will look like, going from all black and white to a burst of fire in full color.
The fully opened design simply says DIED. So the full message reads THE DAY THE MUSIC DIED. Referring to a tragic plane accident in the 1950s.
