This is my abstract digital illustration of Vermeer's Girl with a Pearl Earring, created using Adobe Illustrator and then Photoshop to finish. 

Originally painted in 1665 in oil, Vermeer captured the iconic gaze of the imaginary girl looking directly at the 'camera' – in a time 200 years before the invention of the photograph.
