Malnutrition is one of the biggest problems is rural areas of our country. This problem can directly relate to poeples income status. Being hungry is one of the main reasons why students stay out of school. Students in these rural areas are not equipped with the necessary education on how to fuel their bodies with nutrients for optimal performance and to reach their full potential, and at the same time spending the minimum amount of money on food.
Education in rural schools, regarding nutrition and food budgeting is very important, because malnutrition is one of the major problems in rural communities.
Sprout is about providing users with the tool to learn about nutrition and serves as the beginning of creating a “sustainable feeding scheme” for rural areas. Educating the user from a young age, on nutrition and budgeting, in order for them ultimately always have food on the table.
The Sprout Kit consists of 3 pencils, a basic nutrition guide, recipe book, a weekly meal planner and vegetable seeds.
