Jean-Pierre de Linois

Jean-Pierre de Linois, a mysterious character in an upcoming book in the Captain Alonzo Johnson series. A Frenchman with an obscure background, some call him a pirate, others simply a privateer, and yet others claim he is an honest trader. Despite his deadly reputation and sometimes severe demeanor, he is friendly and generous. This combination of personality traits add to his mystery. Always dressed fashionably, he is not one to be caught in clothes tattered or worn. Though kindhearted to many, he is not a man any would wish for an enemy. A very capable commander, a strong leader and knowledgeable in navigation, geography and history, he has the hearts of his men who would follow him to the most distant corners of the globe. Accounts suggest he served in the First Imperial French Navy, yet the lack of evidence adds to his broad reputation.
