The Usual Place

The Usual Place is my response to the individual half of the ‘Future Experiences’ project with Sustainable Futures Africa.

It is forecast that ten years from now, independent record labels will be a rare sight and that even the large record labels like Universal, could be bought over by conglomerates like Coca-Cola or Pepsi. The world is fast becoming globalised and losing its unique cultures and identities, the South will soon follow.

In an effort to preserve cultures, and facilitate change from within, The Usual Place is a symbol and set of beliefs that musicians can identify with to tell local stories, to share ideas with their immediate neighbours and to fashion a future that is unique to them and their sense of place.
