Mobile Games are already more than 50% of the game market!

Mobile games, but specifically competitive mobile games, are the biggest contributors to gambling market revenues in 2019. The gaming industry earned US$120 billion last year, and of that amount, US$64 billion came from mobile phones.

A staggering figure that shows that the mobile gaming market has already surpassed consoles and PCs by far in terms of revenues.

Mobile - US$ 64.4 billion
PC - US$ 29.6 billion
Console - US$15.4 billion
GVC (video games) - US$6.5 billion
XR (virtual reality and the like) - US$6.3 billion

Some interesting notes raised with the research data:

The games and interactive media industry grew 4% in one year, with little change in the market.

Free games accounted for 4 out of every $5 spent on digital games in 2019, thanks to the strong performance of mobile games.

Fortnite won first place for the second consecutive year, generating $1.8 billion in 2019.
XR's revenue increased 26% to $6.3 billion in 2019 thanks to new headphones like Oculus Quest.

As there were few releases of AAA games for consoles in 2019, game sales in consoles dropped 5%. Something that could change in 2020 with several upcoming titles such as Final Fantasy VII Remake, Resident Evil 3, Marvel's Avengers, Cyberpunk 2077 and The Last of Us Part II.

The console gaming market could also gain momentum in 2020 with the launch of the new Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X platforms.

Below, you will find the list of games that "printed" most money in 2019.

Out of the 10 games that made the most money in 2019, six are exclusive mobile games. PUBG Mobile does not appear in the list, but PUBG Chinese version does. Free Fire must be in 11th position.

Compared to the previous research. The data are more or less on the same level.
As had been pointed out since 2010 by several different researches and institutes, the game industry would be changed forever by mobile games, which was what happened.
