Portraiture and likeness are a field very dear to me. The human head is something so familiar, so deeply engrained in our consciousness that it allows for great amount of freedom in the execution. After all – even when confronted with a random pattern the first thing one tends to make out is a face of some kind. 

In my portrait and bust work I have employed different degrees of stylization and aesthetic treatment. The most freedom is to be found in cases where no specific person is depicted, so likeness is not an issue. The one to the far left is Aristotle, but not much turns on this, since we don't have photographs of him anyway.

On the left: Alejandro Jodorowsky, Mexican film maker and director of the greatest ever movie adaptation of 'Dune', which never got made.

On the right I tried to capture the unctuous mannerisms of Don Vito Corleone as portrayed by Marlon Brando.
