For this project I was asked to create my first Sustained Investigation piece. I chose to explore the question "Why do we create fantasy? /How do we separate fantasy and reality?" I have this girl surrounded by technology in a fantasy world taking inspiration from our world that she can see in pocket watch while she becomes surrounded by crystals.

Above is my process in screenshots. I started by bringing in the crystals that I planned to take up most of my background, then I layer masked them to rid the background. Ididnt end up using all of the different images I had originally collected. I placed in the elevator taking up half of the canvas and flipping in horizontally and vertically to then line up. I cut out the girl before cutting out only her arm and moving it to where i wanted her arm to be and removing the old arm. I cut out the pocket-watch and add it behind her hand warping it to add perspective and putting the city background where the watch face would be. I then took to editing the color values of each separate image to fit into the same environment. I added a color fill of pink over the elevator layers and set it to soft light. I edited the rest of the layers using the camera raw filter to make respective layers cooler toned and under a more blue/purple light. To finish I added a dark purple color fill layer on Linear Light to create shadows, erasing where I wanted light to hit.
