College Recruiters Look Toward Lacrosse Class of 2022

Daniel J. Mannix is a Utah senior executive with a longstanding passion for lacrosse and an extensive background as a high school-level coach. Having coached top programs such as Utah Elite and West Coast Starz, Daniel J. Mannix maintains a strong interest in the sport’s recruiting and talent pipeline.

As highlighted in a recent Inside Lacrosse article, the summer of 2020 presented a pandemic-related “dead period” that brought a halt to competitive play across the country. Many anticipated events were rescheduled for the fall and for June of the following year.

This has created a unique dynamic when it comes to the ongoing college recruiting process, which is now focusing on the Class of 2022. Coaches have been evaluating high school players exclusively using film. While this is not as desirable as actually seeing players in action, there are a number of talented athletes who are generating buzz.

As selected by Inside Lacrosse, these include Tayden Bultman, who competes with West Coast Starz in California. Despite a torn ACL that he is in rehabilitation for, the Torrey Pines star is expected to regain form as a difficult-to-cover player able to create plays across the field. Another top prospect singled out is Henry Caponiti, who competes in Brunswick, Connecticut. The three sport athlete is also recovering from an injury, but is known for a quick and accurate left-handed release that delivers points in the crunch.
