The Unseen

“The Unseen” is an analog work of natural or artificial light that is reflected in the sea or another surface by breaking from the sea. However, it feels like the digitality that exists in the analog world, but which we have not seen or cannot realize even if we see it. The light that appears/disappears while taking different forms every time with the constant movement of the waves reminds me of a constant cycle like existence, transformation, extinction, and re-existence.

The sound that accompanies “The Unseen” is an analog work just like the visuals. The composition of the natural sounds, however, is not recorded from the sea or water unlike the visuals, such as the sound of paper and nylon bag crumpling, the sound of a rolling stone on a table, or the sound coming from the air-conditioning. By putting these sounds in the background of the video, I want to intensify the contrast I’m trying to produce between natural and artificial.

Görünmeyen

"Görünmeyen", denize veya denizden kırılarak başka bir yüzeye yansıyan doğal ya da yapay ışıkların oluşturduğu analog bir iş. Analog dünyada da var olan fakat bizim görmediğimiz ya da görsek bile farkına varamadığımız “sayısallığı” hissettiriyor. Dalgaların süreğen hareketleriyle bir görünüp bir kaybolan ve her seferinde farklı formlara bürünen ışık bana sürekli bir var olma, değişme, yok olma ve tekrardan var olma döngüsünü de anımsatıyor.

Videoya eşlik eden ses de, aynı görüntüler gibi analog bir şekilde oluşturuldu. Görüntülerin aksine, deniz veya sudan bağımsız olarak, kağıt ve poşetin buruşturulmasının, bir taşın masa üstünde yuvarlanmasının ya da klimanın sesi gibi doğal seslerin kaydedilmesinden oluşan bir kompozisyon. Suyun doğal ortamında çıkarmadığı bu sesleri videonun arka planına koyarak üretmeye çalıştığım doğal-yapay kontrastını pekiştirmek istedim.
