NEAR DARK The lesser known, Vampire film from 1987 ( the other being the very successful The Lost Boys, which apparently went through 1000 cans of extreme hold hairspray during it's production, delaying the healing in the Ozone hole over California for a whole decade!... yes that's a joke! don't quote me!)
This is the wonderful Severen, played by the salt departed Bill Paxton, hot from the success of Aliens.
This rather fantastic, gritty, road movie / western, detoured through the darkness at the edge of American 80's horror, got a rough deal at the box office, and subsequent DVD & Blu ray releases have tried to piggyback on the Twilight vibe, with appalling covers!
I was revisiting some of the lesser known films of my youth, and I thought Near Dark deserved some love! Kathryn Bigelow's first film for a large studio has gone under the radar for too long, hopefully a new restoration print will be in the pipeline, we can only hope!
