The Impact of Vacant Housing on Baltimore's Neighborhoods
This project was completed in partnership with the Baltimore Neighbourhood Indicators Alliance (BNIA) to visualise the impact vacant and abandoned housing has on Baltimore's communities. The objective of the visualisation is to highlight the disparity in housing vacancies by community and the degree to which their safety, number of households, and economic wellbeing are negatively affected.
By framing the data within these specific communities, the visualization acts as a case study in order to contextualize the problem and humanize it. The end goal is to motivate concerned readers to ignite a dialogue surrounding the issue.
