Caracara Collective is an experimental design studio that creates art and design installations and product collections using biowaste. They promote a new wave of sustainable design, envisioning a future without harmful materials and where waste is a resource. Visit their website to know more about their projects: www.caracaracollective.com

Their visual identity was developed in collaboration with Aleksi Vesaluoma from Caracara Collective. A set of concepts based on their values and design practice was defined to be used as an inspiration to create visual elements that support their message. Some of those are: local, biodegradable, sustainable, nature-led, experimentation, inspiring, activist, low-tech, playful, diverse, quality, biowaste, and circularity. The character of this studio is experimental and so is this visual identity, born from practical needs and meant to continue evolving along their projects.

The logo is simple and playful, as it is made of simple figures that represent two of the main materials they work with: orange peels and mycelium. The colour palette is vibrant and bold, standing out form the earthy palette of the art installations, products, and packaging materials. The fonts chosen are open source and look for a balance between readability, an analog and a radical vibe. Gap Sans Black, the font used for titles, is a sans-serif neo-grotesque typeface. It's bold, and has handmade traits. Roboto Mono, used for subtitles, brings a analogical still digital outlook. Lastly, Authentic Sans is used for descriptive and informative texts. It's a geometric sans serif, easy to read, simple, yet sophisticated, cohesive, and harmonious.
