These knitting swatches aim to project the ocean as a juxtaposition between its natural state, and that due to human intervention.
The first swatch conveys all things natural that are found in the ocean: Blues range from light, clean to darker shades. Golden sands are intricately knitted with shells, pearls and minerals.
The second swatch, on the other hand, conveys all things manmade that are found in the ocean: The colours are murkier, owing to pollution. Beads inspired by oil spills are knitted over a panel of plastic cord. Lastly, glass beads knitted in a wire, along with wood and gold buttons pay homage to the many lost treasures and shipwrecks that litter the seabed today.
