“I guess I would say, ‘enthusiastic’, about life?” she replied, when asked to describe herself in one word.

This is Angela Lim for you- somebody who represents the modern woman today well: full of life, confident and successful. Not only does she carry herself well, she also strikes one as vivacious and eloquent.

She currently hosts Campus, the only live youth talk show on local radio. Working at 938LIVE means that she has a lot of opportunities to interact with teenagers regularly.

“With every single show that I do with the youth, I definitely learn a lot from them as well. The great thing about working with them is the energy that they have. There’s so much enthusiasm and they always surprise me with regards to how much passion they have for everything that they do. There’s always this conventional idea that youths are a bit apathetic, but I think producing and presenting Campus really topples that notion entirely,” Angela said. “Youths are very engaged. They are very intelligent and have a lot of passion for life. So, I think that is what’s wonderful about hosting a live youth programme.”

However, her mindset about the youth has not really changed from before hosting the show and after she started, as she did not really have “a lot of preconceived notions” about the youth.

“Since I, myself, am rather young and fresh out of university, I think I am quite in touch with the kind of issues that the youth is interested in. However, I would say that what has changed is how much I feel they seem to know what they want to do with their lives at a younger age and the convictions that they have about many issues. That continues to surprise me.”

Besides being a presenter for Campus, Angela Lim also produces Positive Business Minutes and hosts Between Us, a counseling talk show. On the topic of her own production, she commented, “Positive Business Minutes is catered to people who are interested in bite-sized nuggets of information, such as business tips, tips for self-improvement, leadership and management, on a day-to-day basis.”

Like many other people, Angela also has aspirations that she would have worked towards had she not embarked on her current path. She admitted that she had always wanted to be a reporter, since she has had interest in current affairs and news for a very long time already. Although she loves her job, as a presenter, which she claims is exciting, she thinks that she would probably be writing because she started off writing with Yahoo! News as a start.

Her smiling eyes shone brightly as she said, “I really loved just reporting, being on the scene and on the ground with people, experiencing all that and writing it down. For me, that was a big passion and it still is.”

So, where does she see herself, five, or even ten, years from now?

“Definitely in the media! I’m really big on current affairs and I love meeting people. Hopefully, I will have a job where I can still do that.”
