Fantastic stories of light
The theme's description was as follows:
"There was a time when the world was younger, when the trees were the tallest thing we could see. Great beasts and storms roared over the land and we cowered before it all in wonder because we were so very small.. but our small size hid our giant spirit. We started to share our experience and knowledge, we discovered love, we fought uncountable battles against all odds, shaping the world with our dreams and ambitions. Follow us in this perilous journey, back in time to the dawn of human civilisation...’’

The first thing to approach is the pose and proportions; as I wanted a bulky, slightly disproportioned body that is even distorted by the pose and perspective.
Then, the idea for the character traits themselves. At first, it was going to be a brutal warrior, but I decided later to make him friendlier and affable... which turned him into a storyteller, and a father-figure.
The next step is adding textures, colours, and elements of light for contrast, and using a "mystical" element in the theme; shown in the "magical" blue crystals that project images of stories and sightings witnessed by the storyteller to the youngsters.
