The theme's description was as follows:
"The desire to find something real and to connect with something, or someone. That what drives hundreds of young backpackers from all over the world to travel to a remote and secret island with adventure on their mind. What they desire is to embark on a mystical journey, find love, live in a paradise far away from the constant buzz and social pressure of an overcomplicated modern society, perhaps even reaching an higher state of consciousness and find purpose in their lives. However, utopia is not easy thing to bring into being, and paradise could be less than perfect.."

My approach for the design was in 2 steps:
a) Combining two masses of different outlines, but similar in weight: The backpacker (blobby with slim limbs) and his backpack (rigid and non-uniform).
b) The best angle to view both of them in maximum way possible.
Then there were other details to add a flavour: the amount and variety of items to carry in the backpack, the logos on it, the colours of the skin tones, clothing, and items, adding a dog for scale, and many others.
