Hertz UX/UI Redesign

Last year, in August 2019, I made a Hertz UX/UI exercise for my internship. The goal was to improve the current user flow of renting a car on the Flemish version of their website.
The goal was to simplify the homepage by removing distractions. Illustrative icons, cluttered navigation and the coupon code option disappeared. I moved the option to rent "as member/as guest" further down the line, helping the user focus on the essentials for now.
1. Choose a pickup location
The background image now covers the complete website instead of half a page. This creates a big visual impact, motivating the user's desire to travel.
2. Choose a pickup date
3. Choose a pickup time
4. Select your age group
5. Pick a car
6. More options

7. Login/register
When the user decides to continue, he has to login or register. He can also reach this page by clicking "Mijn Hertz". This menu option used to be called "Login/Registreer nu". I changed it to make it more personal.
8. Overview & Payment
By moving the coupon code option down the end of the flow, the user doesn't need to worry about it until they have to pay. The option goes hand in hand with the payment. That's why it is expected in this stage, not earlier in the process.

On the website of Hertz, the user gets to choose between 5 types of coupon codes. I decided to eliminate this choice, allowing the user to only fill in one unique 7-digit code. Leaving the rest up to the system of Hertz itself, since the user can't always know which type of coupon code he owns.
