Habitar el gesto is a project led by Naves Matadero - International Center for Living Arts, in collaboration with a team of Cuban professionals from various disciplines (performing arts, architecture, visual arts, etc.), devised to link Havana , based on the knowledge and relational experimentation, in the social and community sphere, of the architect Santiago Cirugeda and his collective Recetas Urbanas.

The proyect takes place in a heritage house, inhabited by 4 families. A series of works to rehabilitate the space has been developed, that provide strategies for citizen involvement and participation, seeking to transform and improve the immediate environment through alternative solutions in the face of scarce resources.

The central focus of the proyect is a large scaffolding-stage, whose fuction, in addition to facilitating the work to be carried out, allows for the revitalization and organization of cultural activities of a cultural scope that encourage public interaction.

A total of 63 volunteers have participated in the process, including neighbors, students from the workshop school, architecture students from La Cujae ( Havana University) and external collaborators.

The duration of the project was 36 days of work interspersed with literary gatherings, performances, conferences and community meals.
