DARTMOUTH-HITCHCOCK MEDICAL CENTER

Expansion 4-story Patient Tower currently being designed between 2 existing patient bed towers. This new addition transforms the medical center’s north end of campus by enhancing patient and visitor experience by improving site access, wayfinding, and increasing the number of inpatient beds that are critical to the hospital. 

A new entrance off the main lobby offers patients a warm and inviting arrival experience with strong connections to the natural environment. An illuminating wayfinding wall calls back to nature as if sunlight was peering through the openings in the wall. This brings users back through the space, past a grab and go cafe and meditation chapel. The materiality of the chapel acts as though a layer that has been peeled back from the wayfinding wall, letting you meander around to a place of meditation while looking out to a feature garden.
