Briefing & strategy. The 19th of may 2019, amid the darkest page in their sporting history, Belgian record champion football club RSCA did the impossible; getting youth prodigy and international superstar vincent kompany back to Anderlecht. Following this secret comeback, we were challenged to mold the story into an online announcement that would capture everyone’s attention.
Creative Execution. A team of motion designers were put to work, using only a handful of images, video footage and sound design. In just 48 hours time, a 45” visual story was crafted within a contemporary urban design. Inherent to the Brussels Club and their returning player. The video was launched by the club and by Kompany through Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and Youtube.
On- and offline effectiveness. In less than 1 hour, the video hit the one million views mark. National as well as international news channels, talk shows and sports shows opened with the 45 "comeback announcement in full. Online and offline newspapers used the visuals and one radio station even described the storytelling and look&feel. One year later, the campaign video is still more applauded than the football strategy Vincent Kompany and co implemented at RSCA. For which we apologize.
