It was a small piece of wood, but I would have liked to represent a big tree. I made only three branches on the left and right. When this work was finished carving, the whole image of a broad leaf tree that has begun to drop some leaves makes you feel the flower just after flowering.

Previously, I used large wood to represent a huge tree. But lately, I would like to represent a big tree regardless of the size of the wood. The size of the wood is 9.5 × 9 × 5.7 cm. In this work, I will make only three branches on the left and right. I would like to use this small piece of wood to represent a broad leaf tree that has begun to lose its leaves.
The movement of the curved wood grain has become interesting. I carve with the utmost care to make the parts that I would like to finish thinner.
Black paint is far from the color of hinoki, so it’s the most difficult of the three colors. I painted it carefully so as not to hide the wood grain too much.
