Riga Map Digital Restoration (in progress)

Back in 90s, around the time when Latvia recovered it's independence, there was a giant painting on the two firewalls opposite to Riga's Central Station dedicated to symbols of Riga, it's panorama and the map you see in this project's page. As I know, it survived throughout the 90s, however, at the time I became a teen it was already covered in adverts. Only in last two years it had been freed from posters being on top of it and was again revealed to eyes of the public. Sadly, it's shape is less than good now, it's top and bottom parts had been cropped and part of it had fallen off. And what's worse is that there is a construction site going on at the place, where this map was painted and now it's only a question of time on when it's going to be finally destroyed.
The point of this project is to preserve at least this part of Riga's modern history and finally vectorize the scheme to make it almost as good as the original had been. The process needs precision and patience, as well as a good quality photo of the original wall in full lenght, which I'm hoping to find. By the way, at the bottom you can see my try at quickly recreating the still existing part. Not precise enough, but I'm still going to recreate it in vector.
