DESIGN THINKING
Design Thinking Task

Problem:
Making Hand Sanitisers easily accessible to public in streets/public area to avoid further spread of the virus
Design Sprint Schedule:
Step 1 - Empathise
Understand and relate to the problem

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, sanitising has become vital and it can help in avoiding the spread of the virus, especially in public spaces.

Step 2 - Define
Make a design objective/statement

An effective and efficient method is required to sanitise people and their things in public spaces so as to avoid the spread of the virus.
Step 3 - Ideate
Brainstorming, Creation of a mind-map with all the generated ideas to derive at an ideal solution
The below mind map shows the various ways in which people and things can be sanitised. It also provides possible mediums of sanitisation.
Step 4A - Lo-Fi Prototype
Creation of a sketch showing my design solution.

A disinfectant tunnel/booth to be created at the entrance of populated areas like entrance to mall, cinema hall, post office etc.

The tunnel to be automatically operated but remotely tracked and monitored by experienced personnel.
Sprinklers are fixed at the bottom and top of the tunnel to spray disinfectants.

Red light to blink when its operational/engaged.
Green light to beep when ready for next sanitisation process.
Displays on either sides of the booth to show details of sanitisation in process, amount of time left, type of sanitisation (eg:human or vehicle etc).

Entry and exit to be sensor controlled and tracked.

A card reader to be present at the entry door where the individual will gave to record basic details for the sanitisation request and a nominal fee to be collected via a sensor.
Facility to generate receipt accordingly.

Exit point to lead to the entry of the mall/shop etc.

Step 4B - Hi-Fi-Prototype
Creation of a 3d model of my design.
Step 5 - Testing

Key Learning
This project helped me understand how to use the design thinking process to clearly understand a problem, correctly define it, generate new ideas and ultimately to solve it using a human-centred approach.
