Remnant: “what is left of a community after it undergoes a catastrophe(s).” I’ve heard this term day in and day out. From my alone time with my Father, to the children of God all around the world speaking; the language is spread vastly. I asked myself this question, “What does it mean to be the remnant? How can I be the remnant?” It’s a journey. It is not an overnight process, but it IS an overnight decision. “Do you choose to be a part of this movement?”
After dwelling in this truth, I immediately was taken to Prophet Ezekiel’s vision, ‘The Vision of the Valley of Dry Bones.’ The hand of the Lord led him to a valley full of bones. The Lord asked him, “Can these bones live? Prophesy. Prophesy to these bones and say to them, dry bones, hear the word of the Lord!” Prophet Ezekiel prophesied and upon his command, there was a noise, a rattling sound, and the bones came together, bone to bone. The Lord said, “I will put my Spirit in you and you will live, and I will settle you in your own land. Then you will know that I the Lord have spoken, and I have done it.”
That’s when it hit me. He will put His Spirit in us and we will settle in our own land. Friends, one of the many characteristics of the remnant is seeing what others cannot see. Seeing a valley rotting, full of dead bones, we are confronted with the question: can there be life? This is parallel to what is happening all around the world right now. Famine, violence, wars, etc., it is all around us. But what do you see? Do you see lifeless bones spread throughout the valley or do you see a garden? Will you stay silent or will you prophesy?
Friends, this is not a time to fear or worry or panic. This is a time to speak life into those bones. Prophesy! Declare the word of the Lord over your situation and over this world! Where you are at this very moment is not a mistake, rather His Spirit in us will carry us through. Prophesy and speak life!
