This is the logo I created for Voices United a community organisation in Adelaide, South Australia that aids victims of rape and their families. Although 'rape' is an ugly word and an ugly act, the victim is not. The organisation aims to remove the shame that victims feel and educate others on the reality of this very brutal act. Many victims feel they cannot voice what happened to them, that their voice has been silenced, but Voices United, is about many voices coming together, to find healing and restoration. The logo symbolises 2 butterflies coming together to form 1 (a purple and a pink butterfly). A butterfly is a symbol of transformation, of something ugly becoming something beautiful. The 'V' from Voices United has also been repeated as the butterfly's antennae. The logo is based on a hand-drawing, and the lettering was created completely from scratch. Read more on my website.
