Méli-Mélo. Menú y Carta de Vinos.

It all began when my friends at Méli-Mélo Restaurant in Zaragoza asked me to renew the design of its menus and other material without sacrificing the restaurant's identity. I began by sketching some flowers for the tapas list whose petals looked a bit like slices of Serrano ham (or slices of Serrano ham arranged in the shape of a flower). However, I was told they needed something much simpler, colorful and above all, extremely gay, that's when I decided to leave the pencils and Serrano ham aside, open up Illustrator, choose five colors and arrange them in bands in such a way that, only slightly though, was reminiscent of the famous rainbow flag. From this simple idea the menu design was born: five lively colors on a grey background. From there, and without having to choose more colors, the remaining of the designs sprang forth almost naturally. I used exactly the same elements for the tapas list. Only in the wine list I decided to remove the blue color and replace the simple lines for grape leaves. Now the entire image of Méli-Mélo Restaurant is based in these five bands of color, as well as the fuchsia logo made by Silvia Marcén, featured since it opened its doors.
