Xenia es una apuesta por el otro: por lo desconocido, por lo incomprendido, por lo muchas veces ignorado. El proyecto se piensa como un paso en dirección a proveer una mejor calidad de vida para aquellas personas que, por necesidad, se ven obligadas a abandonar su hogar y a sumergirse en la hostilidad de la ciudad de Bogotá. Para estas personas, se busca que Xenia represente un hogar, un refugio a dónde correr cuando el mundo parece cerrarse a su alrededor.
Entendido como “refugio urbano transitorio”, Xenia es un auxilio habitacional para aquellas personas que se desplazan hacia la ciudad para buscar una oportunidad de tratamiento contra el cáncer en el INC. Este está pensado a la medida de quienes allí residen, no solo en cuanto a su movilidad, sino en cuanto a su relación con el entorno próximo.
De la misma forma, es un auxilio productivo y emocional, que busca darle sustento a la vida temporal en Bogotá, y asegura la productividad y el bienestar recreativo y social de quienes habitan temporalmente en el proyecto. Este, finalmente, buscaestablecerse como un referente de un programa que hace falta en la ciudad de Bogotá, y que, como capital del país, debe estar dispuesta a brindar para toda la población nacional en un momento de necesidad.
Xenia stands for the wellbeing of others: its stands for everything unknown, misunderstood, regularly ignored. The project is meant to be a first step in providing a better life quality for those who, out of necessity, are thrown out of their homes and into the hostility of an enormous city like Bogotá. For these people, Xenia represents a home away from home, a refuge to run to when the world seems to close around them.
A transitory urban refuge, Xenia es is a housing aid for those people who migrate to the city in search for opportunity in treatment against cancer in the INC. It is custom designed for the limitations of those who reside there, not only in terms of mobility, but also regarding their relationship with their immediate environment.
As well, it is a productive and emotional aid, seeking to support temporary life in Bogotá, while ensuring productivity and social and recreational wellbeing for those who temporarily reside in the project. Xenia, on the long run, seeks to establish itself as a benchmark for a program that is needed in the city of Bogotá, and that, as capital city in Colombia, it must be willing to provide for the entire national population in a time of need.
