Essentially Unnecessary

An experimental module at University gave me a fascinating insight into the way particular 2D and 3D processes can work in tandem to enhance the creation process, and overall aesthetic, of a digital piece. I had a dissatisfaction with the false-binary that exists between 2d and 3d and wanted to combine them for this project using my favourite aspects of each to develop my practice, instead of tying myself down with processes I have no interest in exploring. The aim of the project was to produce a motion graphics piece that has all the charm of 3d Instagram stings, accompanied with hand-made characteristics of drawn animation, while being able to make important social commentary about the Marx concept of commodity fetishism.
Here are my initial style tests before I knew what I wanted the film to be about!
