The beginning of July in Serbia was marked by demonstrations in many cities across the country. It all started after President Aleksandar Vucic announced the reintroduction of curfew due to the sudden increase in the numbers of COVID-19 patients. Previously, at the end of May, in the middle of the epidemic, the government lifted the state of emergency and measures for preventing the spread of the virus, just because parliamentary elections in the country could be held unhindered, putting personal interests ahead of the nation's public health. Concerned about the new lockdown and the previous bad moves by the government, people spontaneously began gathering in front of the Serbian Parliament building, in Belgrade on July 6th, to peacefully protest. In the late evening hours after tensions began to rise, a group of hooligans caused clashes with the police and thus dragged other people into the violence. These were the first violent protests after 8 years of rule by Aleksandar Vucic and his Serbian Progressive Party. Very quickly, it became clear that the hooligans were deliberately inserted, in order to provoke incidents, to give the reason for the police to use force, to attack other people, and later discredit peaceful protests and accuse the opposition of causing riots.

Početak jula u Srbiji obeležile su demonstracije u mnogim gradovima širom države. Sve je počelo nakon što je predsednik Aleksandar Vučić najavio ponovno uvođenje policijskog časa zbog naglog povećanja broja obolelih od COVID-19, dok je krajem maja Vlada, u sred epidemije, ukinula vanredno stanje i mere za sprečavanje širenja virusa koje su davale dobre rezultate, kako bi se neometano održali parlamentarni izbori, stavivši lične interese ispred javnog zdravlja nacije. Zabrinuti zbog novog zatvaranja i prethodnih loših poteza Vlade, ljudi su spontano počeli da se sakupljaju ispred srpskog parlamenta u Beogradu, 06. jula, kako bi mirno protestvovali. U kasnim večernjim satima nakon što su tenzije počele da rastu, grupa huligana izazvala je sukobe sa policijom i tako uvukla i ostale ljude u nasilje. To su bili prvi nasilni protesti posle 8 godina vladanja Aleksandra Vučića i njegovog SNS-a. Veoma brzo, postalo je jasno da su huligani namerno ubačeni, kako bi se izazvali incidenti, stvorio razlog policiji da upotrebi silu i napadne ljude, a kasnije diskredituju mirni protesti i optuži opozicija za izazivanje nereda.
