Lives Not Knives - Website Design

During University, we had the chance to work on a live brief with the Leicestershire Police to re-design their #LivesNotKnives webpage to help tackle knife crime in Leicester. It was a competiton brief and I ended up winning! Originally set to be a full website revamp, I believe the project was ultimately scaled back, however you can still see my influence in their new branding on posters and such. For example, the font they now use is the one I put forward in this project.

My idea behind the revamp was to condence the information down into easy to read bullet points and appeal to emotion. The website was aimed at youths who were considering picking up a knife, so by condencing the information down it makes it easier to get across the most important facts. I also leaned away from talking about the impact to their potential victims, and positioned it on the impact their crime would have on themselves - The idea being that if someone is going to pick up a knife to stab someone, they are fully aware that the victim could die from their wounds, but may not be aware of the severity of punishment simply for carrying a knife on their person in the first place.
