ABTSHOF HOTEL - Rebranding 2020

Abtshof is a family-owned hotel in the pitoresque region of Harz, Germa- ny. The historical city of Halberstadt is home to this cozy bed-and-break- fast villa, where one is sure to feel like home. The identity of the hotel is closely linked to the city’s history. Moreover, the traditional early Saxon ‘Kartoffel-haus’ architecture is present in the exterior facade design of the hotel - living witness of the heritage present there.
Ever since it was built, the hotel has attracted many tourists and travel- lers, mostly visiting for leisure and historical sightseeing (worthy of men- tioning here are the 3 century-old cathedrals present in the city - highly representative of the city’s visual identity).
The hotel has long prospered without much marketing effort. Ever since the Both family took over in 2011, they have been slowly working to build the digital presence of the business. Finally, 2020 presented the opportu- nity to bring a fresh image for the hotel - reason for the document you are reading.
The challenge was to create an identity system that projects trust and modernism to a various audience, while letting the traditional heritage of the hotel be seen. The visual communication had to be very clear and functional, serving the various 30+ audience.
The rebranding project includes a new logotype, print and online materials.
