Mimic (2020)
This vessel was influenced by the concept of biomimicry from a speculative view. Humans use organic ideas to solve human problems, what if organic beings used human concepts to solve organic problems? In this instance the object which mimics the nature of rock and lava, has the notion of coming alive with it's 'legs' perhaps to find the best source of life for the plant that it contains.
This piece was created during the time of the coronavirus due to being unable to enter the photo studio. I used the variety of backdrops as a strange reflection of the time that we are in whilst referring to the aesthetics of nature and human driven evolution that inspired the piece.
