This project gave us the opportunity to create a book based on contrast, songs, or poetry. I quickly fell in love with the idea of providing visuals of poetry that I read. Partly because it allowed someone to get into my head and see the things I pictured when reading certain poetry. My Book of Poetry is based off a poem called Only Breath by Jalal al-Din Rumi, a famous Afghanistan poet. I approached this project with the idea of visualizing the things I imagined and felt whilst reading his poem. Some of the actual meaning is lost when the poem is translated into English, but it still holds a certain mystique and weight that I wanted to visualize. To keep the integrity of his work, I created each visual following the exact English translation provided. Each page displays visuals that I created using hyper-realistic photo collage techniques through Adobe Photoshop. 

Each page shows visuals specifically tailored to that specific line/ line(s), and each line pops a variety of imagery that I wanted to portray in this book. When I did recite this poem in my head, it made me feel like a moving particle in space which is why the idea of stars, planets, and space were visited throughout this visual book.
