I've been doing a bit of work with sports recently, and I decided I wanted to keep that going with something a little more stylish. I called back to some projects that I knew I liked from some time ago, and wanted to run with that.
Here are the initial sketches, based on a clip of a game-winning 3pt shot made by Lebron James. This page of sketches was done from memory, so the shots aren't quite accurate to the actual footage.
This page is focusing on the last shot of this clip. I wanted to use the last shot as the most defining piece of the entire project, so this was the shot I worked on first.
I knew I wanted to have large text and some sort of reference to Lebron's move to the LA Lakers, but the rest still needed to be refined.
Here are the initial styleframes for myself, done in Photoshop. The first one is most accurate to the picture I had in my mind, but it felt plain when executed, so I just continued pushing along the same direction until I couldn't think of anything more to add or remove.
And finally, the first pass of a video clip. There is more to the project that will be done, so I may end up editing this clip heavily, but I am happy with this result for now.
