On 23 October, we joined in the global celebrations of Snow Leopard Day. In order to mark this day, WWF Nepal organized a participatory art event, asking people to “Lend a Hand for the Snow Leopard.” Foreigners and locals from different walks of life and age groups came together in the historic Patan Museum courtyard, contributed their hand prints to a community canvas, as a symbolism and in solidarity with the elusive cat. When all the human hand prints came together, a beautiful piece of art was revealed. People participated with such a level of enthusiasm in the making of the art and danced and clapped together to the tunes of KUTUMBA.
Apart from being a fun event, the event was a reminder to the dangers faced by the majestic animal owing to habitat loss and fragmentation, climate change, human wildlife conflict, illegal wildlife trade.
