Description:
The intent of this project is to provide a firestation and garage along with a barrack to house three rotating fire crews that consist of seven firefighters and two fire engines. The facility is occupied 24 hours a day with alternating crews. There are two main parts to this project: the Firestation and the Barracks. The site plan is designed with ease of maneuvering of fire trucks within the site and considers the logistics of communication and rapid egress and accessibility.

Site Plan Features:
DENSE LANDSCAPE -- Thick shrubs and hillside planting material already existing on site. Not for pedestrian access. Mostly tall shrubs and oak or pine trees. Sits on sloping terrain and provides shade for the Western edge of site.
RECREATION AREA -- Recreational activities include outdoor basketball court, BBQ pits, picnic seating and shaded areas, running paths and lounging opportunities.
CALIFORNIA NATIVES -- Planting design which allows for pedestrian access but utilizes the native plants of San Gabriel Canyon. Plant lists can be found at this website: http://www.cnps-sgm.org.
HARDSCAPE -- Gravel and mixed rocks found on site but graded for easy access to and from recreational areas. Rainwater runoff also follows the form of this path which mimics the natural shape of the existing topography.
RAINWATER HARVESTING -- Collects rainwater runoff from hardscape and rooftops of proposed buildings. Water collected is used for toilet flushing and low-flow irrigation proposed for adjacent gardens and landscape.
