Furious Angels
Steam release (link)

This dual-stick shooter pits the player against waves of enemies. Every day a new set of waves is generated to keep the game fresh and replayable.
Players compete against each other for the highest score on the leader board.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Logo design, icon design (achievements), additional game design.

LOGO DESIGN
We wanted something that could be used on a large tile or start screen, as well as icon size. For these reasons the logo is modular and we can easily output a new version by disabling parts like the "wings".
Final logo design
With this logo we wanted to convey at a glance what kind of game this is, for this reason:
* The "plate" recalls the "wings" design of an aviator;
* The helmet is inspired by gladiators and samurai helmets, it also features a stylized eagle. A respirator grounds the helmet as jet-pilot equipment.
ACHIEVEMENTS ICONS
We wanted to create something appealing for those "completionist" gamers.
The staple of the design was to differentiate between:
* Overall game stats (like player rank);
* Counters - divided between single run and overall achievements;
* Events.
The achievements icon set
We considered the use of different colors for the different categories, but we decided that would fragment too much the look of the icons, on such a limited set (compared to 100+ of AAA-games); we think geometry does a good job in this case.
HUD DESIGN PROPOSAL
As I felt the game was lacking a compact interface to convey status, I proposed the solution presented below.
HUD indicating direction player will be firing and incoming wave
HUD indicating direction player will be firing and direction to return to the mothership. A light vignette effect was applied to indicate mothership is under attack
