The Innocent Men - identity
The Innocent Men is a seven member all-male a cappella group originally formed out of The Singing Statesmen, a men's glee club at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, first performing Billy Joel’s “For The Longest Time” in red Converse Chuck Taylors at a campus talent show in 1985. Their self-titled first album was recorded in 1996, and the group has now produced seven full-length albums and one EP. Here is their newest project, identity. You can get the album here.
With a rich 30-year history, The Innocent Men have made numerous albums. This time, they are focused on a new, more serious direction of the group; a redefinition of their sound and image. Their chosen name for the album "identity" was a reflection of this pivot. I thought a minimalistic but warm approach would be the most fitting in order to convey that message to the buyer from the moment they see the cover.
On the inside of the DigitPak, all the same ideas from the cover are maintained and expanded. Since the CD (below) is red like the cover, it is inverted behind it.

The far left panel is the first thing shown when you open the insert, so I wanted to add a personal touch, the handwriting of each member. The front of the insert features the inverted cover, and the back has every donor to the group's Kickstarter campaign.
