Una breve nota | introduction
Con motivo del quinto aniversario del accidente nuclear en Fukushima, Japón, EL MUNDO ha querido dar voz a las víctimas olvidadas que hoy nacen con secuelas a causa de la radiación. El director de arte, Rodrigo Sánchez, me pidió que me encargase de la infografía, que hiciera un resumen de lo que pasó aquel fatídico día y las secuelas que ha dejado hasta hoy.

To mark the fifth anniversary of the nuclear accident in Fukushima, Japan, EL MUNDO wanted to give voice to the forgotten victims that today are born with sequels caused by the radiation. Art director, Rodrigo Sanchez, asked me to work the infographic depicting a summary of what happened that fateful day and the aftermath that has left today.
Al ver la foto del torso de uno de los niños afectados se me ocurrió tatuarle con representaciones de los hechos ya que la principal manifestación de su enfermedad son manchas y erupciones en la piel.

I came up with the idea of presenting the facts of the disaster as tattoos as I was looking at the photo of a child's torso affected by the radiation. The main manifestation of the disease are spots and skin rashes.

2. Graphite and inking
Tras tener decidida la forma y pose del cuerpo, comienzo a entintar.

3. Layout
At the cover, the kid's head rests peacefully in a frame where I tried to invite the reader in. Epicenter of the earthquake and the resulting tsunami flowing in from his neck. The rest of his body and the story 'unfolds' as the reader opens the following double spread pages.
3. Composición
En la portada, la cabeza del niño descansa en un encuadre donde traté de invitar al lector hacia el interior del reportaje. El epicentro del terremoto y el tsunami resultante fluyen desde el cuello ya que son también imprescindibles en la portada. El resto de su cuerpo y la historia 'se despliega' cuando el lector abre las siguientes páginas dobles.
