Temporary / Permanence

Temporary Permanence is an installation exploring the paradoxes of the prison-industrial complex in the United States. Freedom and democracy are intensely fetishized in American culture despite the United States having the most concentrated prison population in the world. As the US inmate population continues to increase and civic issues are ignorned, individuals are more likely to remain stuck in the complex. This installation specifically explores the tension between domestic and institutional spaces for those who are incarcerated in the United States.
