From 13th to 17th February 2023, Blowplast joined its clients Kapa Oil Refineries for a blood donation drive. The initiative was part of efforts to rally people to aid millions of Kenyans who require blood. 

The Rotary Club of Stoni Athi conducted the blood donation drive in February in 3 sites (Kapa Oil Refineries, Daystar University-Athi River, and Mavuno Church-Hill City). The drive was in conjunction with Halisi Family Hospital, which supported the initiative by facilitating with equipment and personnel needed for the donation.

On average, a healthy person can safely donate blood every three months. The World Health Organization also recommends that a country should collect at least 10-20 units of blood for every 1,000 people each year.

Under the umbrella of the blood donation initiative, Blowplast mobilized quite a number of staff to donate blood to contribute to the drive. Why do we do this as a company? To make a difference, make an impact, and save lives!

According to the society, at least seven people require blood transfusion every 10 minutes In Kenya. Blowplast was honored to make a difference through this act of service in the 433 blood pints collected against a target of 500 in the three sites.

In its remarks, the Rotary Club of Stoni Athi appreciated the generosity of the organisations and individuals that volunteered to donate blood to this initiative and appealed for more efforts to keep donating blood to save lives. This year’s theme for the annual blood donation drive was “Share Your Love.”
