Cinemagraphs - College Work

Cinemagraphs
During my first year of college I learned how to create Cinemagraphs.

Cinemagraphs are mostly still images that have a specific portion of it moving. An example would be the above image of a tealight candle on a restaurant table.

My tutor supplied us with the footage used that additionally included movement in the background and to the left hand side.

To create the cinemagraph I first selected the whole image and copied it above the video group containing the base footage.

I then created a mask for the image layer and masked off the candle and the light reflection using the brush tool in black in order for the movement from them to be the only things present.

Afterwards, I looked over the image to make sure that there was zero movement everywhere else which, at the time of creating this cinemagraph, I thought I had been successful in doing, but unfortunately I had missed a small portion of movement from someone on the left-hand side of the footage.

Overall, for a first attempt at Cinemagraphs, I am very happy with it and would love to make more in the future.
