Week 4 - Persuasive Poster #oneperday2023

Week 4 - #oneperday2023
My chosen environmental cause was "Land Clearing" with the audience being aged between 35-55 year olds.

My original thoughts led me down the path of a solution to land clearing and the appeal of of cost of living.  I attempted to move towards a more persuasive poster by focusing on the environmental cause and. doing more research into the topic, specifically in QLD.

4 Final poster Ideas
I took a step back and did some more research on land clearing, specifically in QLD.  I found an interesting statistic that 91% of land cleared in QLD in 2014-15 was for agriculture.  Such a powerful statistic, It gave me a clear direction to take the poster.
Impact & drama was the key for this poster design.  A play on the classic QLD catchphrase felt impactful, it's a very serious thing to re-write a loved popular phrase.  The harsh shadows added to the drama.  The (innocent) cow acted as a face for this villainous environmental cause, something that can be quite clear to people.  And of course the beaming bright orange sun is simply a strong message of the already existing heat in QLD and the damage it can do without trees to shade us.
Sun's were used to collage over the sun, while the font for "desolate" was chosen to imitate handwriting, almost as the phrase had been graffiti'ed over.  Silhouetted houses we're added to remain in touch with the 35-55 year couple/family, it represents suburbia, somewhere a lot of these families live in.
